Beach, Speedway and Seasons

Daytona Beach is one of the few places in Florida where you can still drive on parts of the beach. The Main Street Pier, the Boardwalk and Daytona International Speedway bring big crowds during Speedweeks, Bike Week and spring break, while Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and the area's hospitals anchor the year-round economy.

What to Know Before You Buy in Daytona Beach

Ask for condo inspection and reserve records. Florida condo buildings three stories or taller need milestone inspections, starting at 25 years for buildings within three miles of the coast. Ask for the inspection reports, the structural integrity reserve study and any planned special assessments.

Check flood zone and erosion history. Hurricanes Ian and Nicole in 2022 damaged dunes and seawalls along Volusia County's coast. Check the flood zone, the elevation certificate and any seawall repairs before you commit.

Confirm rental rules first. If you plan to rent short term, confirm city and building rules before you buy. They vary from one building and block to the next.

Verify school zoning by address. Daytona Beach is served by Volusia County Schools. Boundaries change, and a listing's school field is not a guarantee.
